Logo Design and Corporate Identities

All companies need a logo to identify their business. The top companies will actually spend millions of dollars to come up with a good one. Obviously smaller companies are not going to spend that much but it is an indication of just how important it is to have a good logo. There are quite a few things that go into designing a good logo and it is important to know what these are before you start looking for one for your company.

logo design

Logo designs and corporate identities are critical to the success of your business; they are what sets you apart from your competitors. In large part your logo is how people will recognize your company so it is important to make sure that you have one that stands out and at the same time that will convey the message that you want. Jason McCormack (check out his own webpage) - one of our lead designers - is a real expert in this field. This is a lot harder than a lot of people realize therefore it is critical that you hire a designer who understands the process. A lot of companies hire designers based solely on their creativity, while this is important there is a lot more to it than that.

The big thing when it comes to logo design is to make sure that it is something that people are going to remember. In a lot of cases it is the simple logos that will do this. Many companies go for these really fancy designs but in most cases they end up all looking similar. You would think that coming up with a simple design would be easy but it actually isn't, it really takes more creativity than most of those fancy designs that people come up with.

The other big thing when it comes to your logo is that it has to tell people about your business. The idea is to build a brand and that requires that people actually know what your company does. You need to be able to convey this message in your logo while at the same time not making it obvious; you won't stand out if your logo is just a literal representation of what you do. Coming up with a design that can do this is not easy and it takes years of experience to be able to do it well.

One thing that a lot of designers don't really think about is the critical importance of making sure that your logo is actually practical. It has to be easy to use and look good on everything. That logo that looks great on your letterhead may not look so good on a tee shirt. This is something that you have to make sure doesn't happen, and it is overlooked by most designers. You are going to be putting your logo on almost everything so you are going to want to make sure that it transfers easily and that it looks good. Otherwise you are not going to be able to get the maximum benefit out of your logo.
